Complimentary costume recycling at the end of your show, you bring us any costumes at the end of your show in addition to your rental and we will rehome those pieces for free ($50 value per medium box).
Member rates to AIBI’s Fashion Lab and Events
NEW: 1 hour of consulting on the sustainable costume topic of your choice (may also be used for virtual eco shopping assistance) per year ($50 value).
1 AIBI day pass with each rental over $50 (based on final invoice amount, limit 1 free day pass per production, additional day passes are available at AIBI’s website, value of $45).
Members have the option to permanently alter costumes. All permanent alterations require written approval. This includes major fit alterations, use of glue, paint, distressing, etc...

Membership is intended to bring the costume community together around a shared resource! Please consider investing in this resource today, if membership is not right for you, we’d love to have you as a Patron, it’s cheaper and has access to exclusive resources and information.
MEMBERSHIP FEES:
Company Membership is based on annual operating budget, tiers based on League of Chicago Theatre Membership rates.
Emerging Theatres: Operating budget less than $50,000 annually (can only do this for 3 years before “graduating”): $50/year
Operating budget $50,000 – $75,000: $100/year
$75,001 – $150,000: $150/year
$150,001 – $250,000: $200/year
$250,001 – $750,000: $250/year
$750,001 – $1,000,000: $300/year
$1,000,001 +: $500/year
Individual Designer Memberships: Independent designers could purchase a membership for: 10 hours of Volunteer time/year OR $150/year OR a combination of these (ex: 5 hours and $75). We are also now offering a 1/2 year membership to break your annual payments into 2 smaller amounts OR just sign up for the block of months you need.
Recycle Your Stock
Thank you for Recycling your costumes with us!
Due to storage and staff capacity, we are no longer offering free costume recycling for non member organizations.
Member organizations: recycle your costume excess with us at the end of your show! We accept all wearable clothing, fabric over 1 yard, and select other items.
Non Members: we ask a $10 suggested donation per medium box ($50 value) to help us process and store materials.
Individual companies and costume designers waive their intellectual property rights to their costumes. We will not rent out the costumes as a “package” and only will do “a la carte” rentals so another company’s design will not look like yours even if it uses some of the same pieces.
Donated costumes must be cleaned prior to donation. We will take anything and everything relating to costumes, then we sort and store, sell, or re-donate according to the needs of our stock at any given time. Please check our list of Most Needed Items (updated regularly) for the types of material donations that are currently in greatest demand.
